Together -

Working with you

Barbara Kenez , Karen L. Miller and Allen Weaks are running for Lathrup Village City Council in the November 7, 2023 election. Their decision to run is rooted in their shared love for and appreciation of Lathrup Village and its people.

Barb, Karen and Allen are independent thinkers, but share similar goals and are committed to introducing positive change to the City Council. That means addressing the 5-year history of city budget shortfalls and managing our resources so that we live within our means.

They are driven to listening to our residents and bringing their concerns to the table as key policy and financial decisions are made. Support of initiatives that enhance and build our special community for all our neighbors will always be considered.

The diversity in perspectives, knowledge, backgrounds and relationships they each bring, as well as their collective experience, are well-suited to make sure that your City Council is upholding its duty as an elected body to serve you and all of our residents.

We urge you to vote BARBARA KENEZ, KAREN L. MILLER and ALLEN WEAKS to the next City Council of Lathrup Village. Together they can have the impact that is needed to ensure the future of Lathrup Village.

2023 Lathrup Village City Council Candidates

“Residents deserve respect. Residents deserve to be heard. Residents deserve a voice in how their tax dollars are spent.

I remain committed to the prospect that our City leadership can, and must, do better for all of our residents.

I will continue to ask tough questions about how your money is spent. The backroom deals being made by some current Council members must end. I don’t believe in self-dealing or special treatment and perks for family and friends.

This community belongs to all of us. If you agree, I hope I can count on your vote.”

— Karen L. Miller

“Top goals:

  • Balance our 2023-24 budget without transfers from Fund Balance.

  • Promote from within with an Interim City Administrator named by year-end 2023.

  • Restore LV Parks & Recreation Department and activities; form a resident committee; benchmark other similar-sized cities’ Parks & Recreation strategies to determine best practices; and relaunch a modestly funded Parks & Recreation plan in FY 2024-2025.

  • Strengthen existing community organizations and relaunch the Homeowners Association and Garden Club during 2024.”

— Allen Weaks
